The heaviest and fastest available fibre connection for businesses between the northern Netherlands and Amsterdam

Introducing Duocast Connect+

With the introduction of Duocast Connect+, we are making the heaviest and fastest fibre connection between the northern Netherlands and Amsterdam, the Netherlands' connectivity hub, available to businesses. The fibre route starts with a capacity of 800 Gbps and can be expanded to 32 terabits per second.

Improved connections for the northern Netherlands

Fabian Labohm, director and owner of Duocast: "With Duocast Connect+, we are making high-quality data infrastructure between the northern Netherlands and Amsterdam an affordable commodity. It is therefore a solution for businesses in the northern Netherlands and beyond — from healthcare, government, and education to e-commerce and the latest AI applications. Amsterdam and Groningen share a digital ecosystem of various internet and Ethernet service providers and consumers.

Duocast Connect+ connects them easily." The Amsterdam region, where the major internet exchange points are located, is also facing growing shortages of energy and space, driven in part by the enormous growth in data centres in recent years. This is prompting businesses to seek alternative locations in the Netherlands. Groningen is now one of those alternatives — and with the resources available and this unique connectivity capacity, it has become the most attractive region.

High technical quality and DWDM illumination technology

For this connection, we partnered with Nokia, which supplies the latest equipment. The route runs over Relined's reliable fibre infrastructure. The high technical quality and DWDM illumination technology guarantee the bandwidth and minimum latency. Duocast Connect+ is unique in offering immediately available capacity, competitive pricing, and growth potential for data connections on the line.

Labohm: "Heavy connections outside the Randstad were already available, but often only as costly bespoke solutions with long lead times and unfavourable latency. Duocast Connect+ presents an affordable solution without sacrificing speed, redundancy, or latency."

Rollout in 2025

The rollout of Duocast Connect+ is taking place in several phases. The process began at the end of 2024 with a number of data centres connected to the fibre route, including the larger Groningen data centres QTS and NorthC, Equinix AM7 in Amsterdam, DCF2 in Leeuwarden, and Cellnex in Lelystad. The second phase will follow in the course of this year, with a further capacity expansion ultimately reaching 32 terabits per second.
